Regain Comfort and Mobility with Expert Arthritis Care

Arthritis in the hip and knee can significantly impact your quality of life, causing pain, stiffness, and reduced mobility. At InteGrowth Orthopedic Specialists, we offer specialized care to help you manage arthritis symptoms and improve your daily function.

Advanced Arthritis Treatments

Martin Jenter, DO, specializes in providing advanced treatments for arthritis of the hip and knee. Our goal is to relieve your pain, restore your mobility, and enhance your quality of life.

Understanding Arthritis

Arthritis is a common condition that affects the joints, leading to inflammation, pain, and stiffness. The most common types affecting the hip and knee are osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.

  • Osteoarthritis: This degenerative joint disease occurs when the cartilage that cushions the ends of your bones wears down over time.
  • Rheumatoid Arthritis: An autoimmune disorder that causes your immune system to attack the lining of your joints, leading to painful inflammation.

Symptoms of Arthritis

  • Persistent joint pain
  • Stiffness, especially in the morning or after periods of inactivity
  • Swelling and tenderness around the joints
  • Reduced range of motion
  • A grinding sensation during joint movement
  • Joint clicking and feeling of giving way or instability

Knee Arthritis Treatments

  • Non-Surgical Options: Anti-inflammatory medications, corticosteroid injections, physical therapy, and supportive devices can help reduce pain and improve mobility.
  • Surgical Options: When non-surgical treatments are not enough, Dr. Jenter performs Primary Total and Uni Compartment Knee Replacements using computer navigation by Ortho-Align system for precise and effective results.  Less blood loss is seen and less thigh pain and weakness due to limited or no tourniquet use.  Cementless designs for total knee based on age and condition of bone.  Cemented components require a short duration tourniquet to prevent bleeding during the cement hardening process.

Hip Arthritis Treatments

  • Non-Surgical Options: Medications, physical therapy, and lifestyle modifications such as weight loss and exercise can help manage symptoms and improve joint function.
  • Surgical Options: For severe cases and failure of nonoperative treatment, Dr. Jenter offers Anterior Approach Total Hip Replacement using the Hana radiological table, a minimally invasive technique that allows for quicker recovery and less postoperative pain.  It allows the surgeon to produce the most accurate leg lengths and hip offset compared to the opposite joint.  Less reason for permanent limp, pain or need for any shoe lift.  Faster return to work, exercise and sports.
  • Patients walk stairs the day of surgery, drive at 2 weeks, return to golf and other activities as early as 6 weeks.  No limitations on sitting, sleeping position, no restriction in hip flexion right away.

Benefits of Our Arthritis Treatments

  • Pain Relief: Significant reduction in pain, allowing you to perform daily activities without discomfort.
  • Improved Mobility: Enhanced joint function, enabling you to move more freely and participate in your favorite activities.  He allows patients to kneel with total knees, based on the patient's symptoms and tolerance.  It is not contraindicated.
  • Enhanced Quality of Life: Better overall health and well-being through effective arthritis management.

Who We Treat

Dr. Jenter primarily works with patients ranging in age from their 40s to 90s, with the average age being between 55 and 65. Candidates for total joint replacements are typically those with controlled medical conditions, such as diabetes, optimized weight management with a BMI under 40, and the ability to remain ambulatory.

However, he evaluates potential patients under the age of 40 on a case-by-case basis to determine the best course of treatment such as injections, physical therapy, or shoulder/knee arthroscopy. If he feels the patient needs different care, he has an extensive network of associates in the same location for quick and seamless referral.
